as a kind of goth adjacent person i would never want to paint my skin white or emphasize my paleness personally bc the glorification of paleness as the epitome of goth does serious harm to young alt poc imo, and i’d recommend other white people to consider what they’re doing when they seek to set extremely light skin as the standard/ideal for being goth or emo. goth should be an inclusive and welcoming community for poc, and no one should ever feel like they need to lighten their skin to fit in. END implicit white supremacy in all alternative music subcultures.
